The main lower body where fluid enters the valve, containing the centering structure that guides the valve core. Suitable for PN 16 (16 bar) pressure class.

Critical Points
  • ASME BPE SF4 certified hygienic flange face
  • Core guide hub (Ra ≤ 0.4 µm)
  • CIP-compatible large corner radii (min. 3 mm)
Engineering Note

All wetted parts require raw material traceability according to EN 10204 3.1. Internal surface roughness must comply with ASME BPE SF4 (Ra ≤ 0.4 µm). Corner radii are kept at a minimum of 3 mm to prevent CIP fluid residue. The design follows the dead-leg rule L/D < 1.5.

Tri-Clamp (Sanitary Clamp)

Quick-Connect Fitting

Material & Manufacturing

Stainless Steel 304 (1.4301) | Mfg: Investment Casting or Forged (EN 10204 2.2)

Surface Finish & Treatment

Tumbled or mechanically polished, Ra ≤ 0.8 µm

Tolerances & Technical Requirements

Flange profile: conforms to ASME BPE DT-4.1.1 / DIN 32676 | Tightening torque: 10–15 Nm (hand‑tighten only, no torque wrench)

Functional Description

Hinged clamp that compresses the lower body and upper cap with the gasket in between, providing the seal. Enables tool‑free disassembly and reassembly of the process line.

Critical Points
  • Conical flange compression profile (self‑centering)
  • Quick‑release hinge (tool‑free)
  • 10–15 Nm hand‑tightening torque range (over‑tightening prevention)
Engineering Note

The conical inner profile of the clamp converts axial force into radial sealing pressure. Over‑tightening (over‑torque) causes gasket extrusion and intrusion into the pipe bore, disturbing the flow profile and creating a hygiene risk. The wing nut shall be tightened by hand force only.

Wing Nut & Stud

Compression Drive Element

Material & Manufacturing

Stainless Steel 304 (1.4301)

Surface Finish & Treatment

Machined, light electropolished

Tolerances & Technical Requirements

Thread: M10 × 1.5 – 6g/6H (ISO 965‑1) | Clearance: 0.5 mm | Hand‑tightening torque: ≤ 15 Nm

Functional Description

The wing nut and threaded stud used to hand‑tighten the Tri‑Clamp.

Critical Points
  • Ergonomic wing head (≤ 15 Nm)
  • Corrosion‑resistant 304 stainless thread
  • Clearance thread tolerance (6g/6H) – easy assembly
Engineering Note

The wing nut form is designed for the maximum torque capacity of the human hand (approx. 15 Nm), thus inherently preventing over‑tightening. The 6g/6H thread tolerance on the stud provides a clearance fit for easy assembly.

Sanitary Gasket

Static Sealing Element

Material & Manufacturing

EPDM / PTFE (Teflon) / FKM (Viton) / Silicone | FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 & USP Class VI compliant | EN 1935/2004 conforming

Surface Finish & Treatment

Tolerances & Technical Requirements

Cross‑section tolerance: ±0.1 mm | Hardness: 70 ± 5 Shore A (ISO 7619‑1) | Compression set: ≤ 15% (ASTM D395, 70 °C / 22 h) | Temperature range: –30°C to +120°C (EPDM) / –20°C to +150°C (PTFE)

Functional Description

The main sealing element that sits between the two metal body flanges, preventing external leakage. Its flanged profile ensures perfect centering without creating dead volume.

Critical Points
  • Flange centering lip (no metal‑to‑metal contact)
  • FDA & USP Class VI approved food‑grade elastomer
  • CIP/SIP thermal shock resistance (–30°C to +150°C)
Engineering Note

Material selection depends on the fluid chemistry and the CIP/SIP temperature profile. For example, PTFE (150 °C) is preferred for high‑temperature steam‑in‑place (SIP) cycles. The gasket compression ratio should be between 20–25%; over‑compression leads to intrusion into the pipe bore.

Valve Core (Plunger / Disc)

Dynamic Flow Control Element

Material & Manufacturing

Stainless Steel 316L (1.4404) | EN 10204 3.1 traceable

Surface Finish & Treatment

Ra ≤ 0.4 µm electropolished (ASME BPE SF4) | Hydrodynamic teardrop shape

Tolerances & Technical Requirements

Axial guide clearance: 0.05–0.10 mm (H7/e8 fit) | Surface hardness: 150–180 HV | Balance test: ISO 1940 G6.3

Functional Description

The moving disc pushed back by fluid pressure to open the path, and seated back by spring force to close the line when flow stops. Features an aerodynamic profile for low pressure drop (ΔP).

Critical Points
  • Aerodynamic teardrop form for low pressure drop
  • Dovetail O‑Ring groove (prevents washout)
  • Centering shaft (0.05–0.10 mm clearance)
Engineering Note

Hydrodynamic design maximizes the Kv (flow coefficient) value and prevents turbulence. The closing stroke is sized considering spring force and cracking pressure. The O‑ring groove is machined in a dovetail shape to prevent seal washout at high flow velocities.

Disc Seal (O‑Type Gasket)

Dynamic Sealing Element

Material & Manufacturing

FKM (Viton) / EPDM | FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 & USP Class VI | EN 1935/2004 conforming

Surface Finish & Treatment

Smooth molded, no flash or over‑mould

Tolerances & Technical Requirements

Cross‑section: Ø4.0 ±0.05 mm (ISO 3601‑1 Class A) | Hardness: 75 ± 5 Shore A | Compression set: ≤ 12% (ASTM D395) | Temperature: –20°C to +200°C (FKM)

Functional Description

The O‑Ring fitted to the tip of the valve core, preventing metal‑to‑metal contact and ensuring 100% Zero Leakage (Rate A) when the valve closes.

Critical Points
  • Mechanical shock‑absorbing elastic structure (Shore A 75)
  • 100% shut‑off during backflow (ISO 5208 Rate A)
  • CIP/SIP resistant FKM elastomer (–20°C to +200°C)
Engineering Note

The O‑ring groove is dovetail‑shaped to prevent the seal from blowing out or washing out at high flow velocities. Cross‑section tolerance conforms to ISO 3601‑1 Class A. It withstands chemical CIP cycles and SIP steam (150°C).

Return Spring

Retraction Mechanism

Material & Manufacturing

Stainless Steel 316 (1.4401) | EN 10204 3.1 traceable | Spring wire: EN 10270‑3

Surface Finish & Treatment

Electropolished (for corrosion and bacteria resistance), open‑coil design to prevent particle entrapment

Tolerances & Technical Requirements

Cracking Pressure: 0.10–0.30 bar (adjustable) | Spring rate: 2.5–3.5 N/mm | Free length tolerance: ±1.0 mm | Coil pitch: 3.0 mm (cleaning clearance)

Functional Description

The helical spring that instantly pushes the valve core to close the valve when flow pressure drops or reverses.

Critical Points
  • Wide coil pitch to prevent particle entrapment (pitch ≥ 2.5 mm)
  • 0.10–0.30 bar cracking (opening) pressure
  • 316 stainless steel fatigue & corrosion resistance
Engineering Note

In hygienic design, the gap between spring coils is kept wide enough (≥ 2.5 mm) to allow CIP fluid to reach all surfaces. The spring force determines the valve's "Cracking Pressure", selected between 0.1–0.3 bar depending on the application. 1.4401 grade stainless steel provides sufficient corrosion resistance against chlorinated cleaning solutions.

Valve Cap

Enclosure and Output Body

Material & Manufacturing

Stainless Steel 316L (1.4404) | EN 10204 3.1 traceable

Surface Finish & Treatment

Wetted internal surface: Ra ≤ 0.4 µm (ASME BPE SF4) | External: Ra ≤ 0.8 µm satin/polished

Tolerances & Technical Requirements

Outlet flange: ASME BPE DT-4.1.1 / DIN 32676 Series A | Concentricity: Ø0.05 mm (ISO 1101) | Weld end (optional): DIN 11866 Series A / ASME BPE OD tube

Functional Description

The upper flanged body part that houses the spring system and where the fluid exits the valve into the pipeline. Available with Tri‑Clamp or weld end connections.

Critical Points
  • Flow exit point (Tri‑Clamp or weld end)
  • Internal seating that centers the spring (≤ 0.05 mm concentricity)
  • ASME BPE SF4 internal surface finish
Engineering Note

When mated with the lower body, the cap limits the maximum disc stroke and centers the spring. For the weld‑end version, the tube outer diameter (OD) must conform to ASME BPE or DIN 11866 Series A standards. The concentricity tolerance (≤ 0.05 mm) guarantees smooth movement of the disc shaft.
